POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION PURPOSE - This position will be responsible for ensuring proper design and development of all application and data integration. Accountable for determining the 3-year strategic direction for data integration including middleware product roadmap and selection. This person will help to shape the organization's use of enterprise services, working to establish broader use of standards and adoption of SOA at The Home Depot. Other responsibilities would include: Establishing the foundation for effective use of middleware products; Perform project tollgate reviews for Data Integration and SOA; Pusing forth the strategy for enterprise services; Coordination with associates and product vendors to establish, share and further the framework for reuse; Architecture reviews and project integration consulting.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements that are cost effective and sustainable. Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications. Translate business requirements using complex methods and models to determine appropriate system solutions. Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation. Research, identify, test, certify, and select technology products required for solution delivery. Establish and implement technology migration strategies for a specific application or architecture within an IT portfolio. Lead technology review meetings and ensure appropriate governance processes are followed.
NATURE AND SCOPE - Typically reports to Senior Architect, Senior Manager, or Director No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 9
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES -
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Three plus years of thought leadership in the application integration space. Five years of hands-on application integration experience. Working knowledge of messaging tools like MQ, ActiveMQ, OpenJMS and other, integration brokering tools like Websphere TX or SAP XI and enterprise oriented integration concepts like EAI or SOA. Prior experience with standard architectural methodologies a plus. Other non-technical skills include: exceptional communication skills, outstanding abilities for collaboration and consensus building. Ability to articulate and visually represent complex ideas in a manner that is easy to understand. Additional preferred qualifications (hands-on experience in two or more of the following): IBM Websphere TX (Mercator), Tibco BE, SAP XI, Ab Initio, IBM Websphere MQ, EAI/ESB/SOA concepts, Web Services (REST, SOAP, WSDL, WS-*), Java, Open Source messaging or ESB.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES - Expert technical proficiency in one or more of the following: Retail applications, Windows platform, UNIX platforms, MVS COBOL, JAVA, J2EE, Relational Databases, Websphere Application Server, Websphere Commerce, Websphere MQ, Networking (Voice, LAN, WAN), SAP, Siebel, Peoplesoft. Comprehensive understanding of systems, applications, and/or networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and overall cost to develop and maintain. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong oral and written communications skills.
