POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION PURPOSEHarris Research Inc., a Logan, Utah based franchisor, and wholly-owned subsidiary of The Home Depot, is currently looking for a Chemist that specializes in wood finishes. The purpose of this position is to research, formulate and develop chemical and equipment products in support of the N-Hance franchise network. Qualified candidates must have experience with; wood finishes, expertise to develop technologies and chemistry procedures for preparing surfaces, work with dyes and pigments for coloring systems, development of finishes that are easy to apply and very durable. Will be required to write MSDS for each product and classify these products according to the guidelines of the United States Department of Transportation. Address scientific questions and provide lab support. Develop and oversee the chemical quality control program for the manufacturing and compliance departments. Design and assess tests for new products and equipment.Applicants must be flexible, able to work under and meet deadlines and possess a strong work ethic.
EDUCATION REQUIRED* Bachelors degree in Chemistry with expertise in wood finishes.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 4ESSENTIAL SKILLSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* Must be eighteen years of age* Must pass the Drug Test* Must pass the Background Check* Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES* Will be required to obtain certification to classify hazardous materials according to the USDOT requirements.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS* Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS* Excellent interpersonal skills.* Working knowledge of word processing and spread sheet applications (Microsoft).* Skills and ability to communicate technical procedures.* Ability and desire to perform scientific testing on mechanical equipment.
