POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION PURPOSE Acts as primary project lead for Advertising Systems team. Responsible for keeping team projects on-task, within budget and within expectations of project timelines. Works with Sr. Manager/leadership to prioritize projects and acts as primary chair in owning deliverables of the team. Primary point of contact of technical and systems support for the advertising department. Manages the day-to-day relationships with external partners i.e., printers, prepress providers and software suppliers. This position is responsible for monitoring the publishing environment, seeking and recommending innovative and cost effective solutions to drive the business, improve upon existing processes and keep THD technically at the forefront while maintaining support of current environment. This may include: the evaluation of new systems during the pre- implemental phase, developing timelines for implementation, supporting customers, resolving user problems and training end users.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES * Day-to-day supervision of systems team, prioritization of tasks. * Responsible for prioritizing projects, tasks to ensure deliverables are met or exceeded * Responsible for regular team projects status reporting * Responsible for managing the QA and page release process and providing weekly report card of production and CAC team performance * Responsible for managing and meeting the Friday release to printers deadline in accordance with THD production schedules and contractual agreements with print suppliers. * Primary point of contact for File Verification pre-press suppliers. Partner with Production and Creative Supervisors to ensure pages are released correctly, and any corrections or revisions are communicated to the printers. * Provides end user training on publishing systems to maximize operator efficiency and increase speed and accuracy of customer service. * Ability to author clear, concise end user/training materials for production processes
NATURE AND SCOPE * Typically reports to Senior Manager Advertising Production/Systems * Accountable for supervision of the work activities of others.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS * Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. * Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Must be eighteen years of age. * Must pass the Drug Test. * Must pass the Background Check. * Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.
EDUCATION REQUIRED The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor-s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 5
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Retail environment or advertising agency with retail or catalog focus preferred. * High proficiency in Quark Xpress mandatory with working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop preferred. * Strong and innovative technical skills keeping ahead of trend is preferred. * High proficiency in InDesign CS4 preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES * Strong PC and Macintosh skills * Strong print advertising or printer experience, a pre-press focus is preferred. * Strong customer service skills. * Practical business experience that allows for a holistic view of individual projects and how they fit into the entire communications effort. * Ability to concept, present and execute. Act as an exemplary representative in dealings with internal clients and external vendors with the ability to interact comfortably with multiple levels of the organization. Strong client management skills with flawless follow up. * Bring a higher level of consciousness and awareness to the job by providing creative solutions to projects, demonstrating ability to problem-solve and organize. * Stay current on new technologies and trends. * OSX support
