POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION PURPOSE - The Sr. Developer has proficient knowledge of multiple programming languages along with the ability to take business requirements and develop the total technical design for an entire application to be run in production. The Sr. Developer has the ability to lay out requirements for the project team. Ability to guide and direct work on multiple projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production. Thorough understanding of life cycle development through production implementation and post implementation. The Sr. Developer has the ability to present at the various architecture review boards. Display strategic view of applications and how they fit into the whole retail space. TECHNICAL SKILLS NEEDED Required Skills: 1. Software development platforms and languages: Java, JSP, J2SE, J2EE, WebSphere, Tomcat, DB2/sql. 2. Knowledge of the Unix/Linux OS environment, including scripting experience. 3. Excellent research and analytical skills is a must. 4. Highly organized individual with experience tracking software changes being made to multiple platforms. Preferred Skills: 1. Financial Services, credit card industry experience. 2. Experience in ClearCase/ClearQuest and Opsware deployment tools. SOFT SKILLS NEEDED 1. Strong communication skills (both written and spoken). 2. Leadership (ability to define and lead process change). 3. Ability to work in a team environment where success comes in consensus building in a large, highly matrixed IT shop. 4. Ability to work with team members with varying degrees of technical depth and breadth of knowledge. 5. Ability to convey technical solutions in terms of business needs. PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DAILY ASSIGNMENT Detailed Description of Daily Assignment: 1. Knowledge and experience in full SDLC. 2. Analyze requirements to produce detailed design specifications - present design to peers. 3. Coding of applications against design - produce unit test plans and results. 4. Provide ongoing support through QA lifecycle and pilot phases - working with matrix teams. 5. Ensure code properly checked into source code control. ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 5-7 years related experience. Retail/business experience a plus. Project leadership ability. BS Computer Science or related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES - Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Ability to communicate issues and recommend solutions in a timely manner to Management. Strong decision making abilities. Experience developing new application systems for production.
