POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION PURPOSE - This is a senior software development position within the Microsoft Windows based Software Provisioning team. The Senior Developer will work closely with application project and support teams to package and deploy Windows based software to all clients and devices in all Home Depot stores. The Sr. Developer needs to have experience dealing with high pressure situations and have a strong sense of urgency. The day to day responsibilities include: design, construct, package, test and pilot of deployment projects in the various Windows platforms - including Windows XP, Windows Server, Windows Mobile; create documentation for rollout support and maintenance of these platform changes; will be involved in a mixture of PC/mobile device/server lifecycle management that will including PCI compliance tasks, software packaging in the Windows environments, and other RTS activities.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Define, plan and implement solutions on assigned moderately complex projects. Take business requirements and develop the total technical design on moderately complex projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production. Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects and present to architecture review boards as necessary. Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards. Provide technical direction to associate developers, developers and contractors.
NATURE AND SCOPE - Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES -
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - The required skills include: Must Have: Experience with MSI Packaging; experience with a provisioning tool (prefer Matrix 42 and/or CCM but will accept SMS, Altiris, etc.); experience with a ticketing system (i.e. Vantive, HP Service Center, Peregrine, Remedy, Paragon, etc). Nice to Have: Desktop Services/Help Desk level 3 support experience, Hardware experience: Windows & UNIX platform, Automation, Network, DNS, DHCP, PXE troubleshooting skills, RPM & HPUX Depot Packaging. 5-7 years related experience. Retail/business experience a plus. Project leadership ability. BS Computer Science or related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES - Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Ability to communicate issues and recommend solutions in a timely manner to Management. Strong decision making abilities. Experience developing new application systems for production.
