POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION PURPOSE -The Senior Developer, Business Intelligence will be responsible for research, analysis, development and support of reporting and analytics solutions.Daily responsibilities include designing and developing robust, user friendly applications, reports and dashboards using BI tools like Microstrategy and SAS.Assist the business and IT teams in troubleshooting technical issues and provide guidance and support in the design and implementation of enhancements to the reports and dashboards.Research and document best practices and standards for using our BI tools and solutions.Support business analysts in determining needs and solutions.Needs to stay informed on emerging technologies.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -Define, plan and implement solutions on assigned moderately complex projects.Take business requirements and develop the total technical design on moderately complex projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects and present to architecture review boards as necessary.Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.Provide technical direction to associate developers, developers and contractors.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.ESSENTIAL SKILLSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

EDUCATION REQUIRED -The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -BS/BA in IT or related field or equivalent experience.5+ years of related experience.3+ Years of Information Technology experience.1+ years experience with developing applications, reports and dashboards using Microstrategy is required.Hands on experience with Microstrategy SDK programming is strong plus.Microstrategy certification and familiarity with version 9 is a strong plus.1+ years experience working with data warehouses is required. Strong SQL skills are required.Experience with any of the following technologies would be considered a plus :SQL Server Reporting Services, Proclarity, SQL Server Analysis Services 2005/2008, SQL Server Integration Services, MDX, Adobe Flex and Java web services on Apache/Tomcat.Excellent written, verbal, and documentation skills required. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with the ability to appropriately prioritize tasks as needed.Candidates should be prepared to be tested on understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts, SQL, scripting and BI reporting/dashboarding.
