POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION PURPOSE - In this role you will act as UNIX/RHEL subject matter expert and work as part of the Quality Assurance Store Infrastructure team. The Linux System Administrator will handle configurations, installations, monitoring, testing and support of our Linux non-production store systems. In this position, you will also be expected to contribute to service level management activities, availability, capacity and continuity management, risk and compliance activities. You will also be required to provide management information in the form of reporting, to give technical presentations to peers and to operations staff, and to provide 2nd level cover for break fix support, participating in an on-call rotation with 24 x 7 coverage.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Perform installation, maintenance and support of system software, hardware and infrastructure and user support for moderately complex projects. May oversee this effort if acting in team lead capacity. Perform store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation. Perform configuration, debugging and support for infrastructure platform for moderately complex projects. Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures. Provide technical direction to System and Associate Engineers, Operations Specialists, and contractors. Interface with Business Stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update manager on all escalated issues.

NATURE AND SCOPE - Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge and experience with computer hardware, operating systems and system software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - A solid understanding of a UNIX/Red Hat Linux-based operating systems; writing scripts, configuration and system installation and configuration, automated monitoring systems, security hardening, automated management, patch management, installing third-party software, and resolving open source dependency requirements. Understands paging and swapping, and file system concepts. Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; can configure NFS, DNS. Understands networking concepts such as firewall filtering, gateways, and traffic management. Experience administering Apache/Tomcat in Red Hat environment a plus. Strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to produce, maintain and present clear documentation and presentation material. Strong sense of urgency. BS Computer Science or related field. 5-7 years experience is preferred.

Ability to listen to what the user is saying and then interrpret what he/ she is trying to get across. Ability to work autonomously and with a diverse team.
