POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION PURPOSE - This position is to support Problem Management. The problem management team minimizes risks to our IT environment by processing problem data, analyze the results, and determine the best approach to resolving issues that will both reduce risk while increasing operational stability. This in turn increases the operational stability of our IT environment resulting in fewer IT outages which means less negative impacts to our customers and internal users. The Sr. Systems Engineer performs configuration, debugging and support for multiple infrastructure platforms on moderately complex projects. Performs root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures and present to managEment. Perform store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation. Ability to present ideas and manage projects. Interface with Business Stakeholders on complex projects. Update manager on escalated issues. May operate as a team lead guiding newer associates or interns.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Tactical Responsibilities * Daily operational stability reports and reviews are accurate and on time. * Post incident analysis (PIAs) are completed in a timely manner and provide the level of detail necessary to accurately assess incidents and identify improvements. * Post incident actions are appropriately identified and tracked through completion. * Problem management metrics are captured and reported accurately and on time. * Ensure problem management activities are value-added and properly prioritized. * Communicate problem management details (reports, metrics, action items, etc.) as required. * Review upcoming changes and identify potential implementation risks. Strategic Responsibilities * Assess current problem management processes for effectiveness. * Identify improvements in the current problem management processes and implement these improvements. * Identify and implement improvements to the problem management data gathering and reporting. * Improve -upstream? flow of problem management details and actions to reduce the risk of future incidents. Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures. Interface with Business Stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update manager on all escalated issues.

NATURE AND SCOPE - Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES -

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge and experience with computer hardware, operating systems and system software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - ? ITIL Foundation Level Qualification or higher ? Experience in problem management ? Knowledge of computer operations ? Experience in process improvement activities ? Ability to communicate to all levels of associates ? Self motivated ? Willingness to work in changing environment ? Ability to identify and prioritize numerous tasks ? Working experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) BS Computer Science or related field. 5-7 years experience is preferred. General knowledge of Home Depot is helpful.
