POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION PURPOSEThe Manager - Advice and Counsel provides guidance and counseling to managers and associates on a wide range of associate relations topics through a centralized services delivery model. The Manager owns all associate relations cases through resolution. Approximately 50% of work time involves providing telephone -based resolution of issues. The Manager provides coaching and counseling on issues including, but not limited to, performance management, compensation, terminations, exit processing, interpretation of HR policies, management practices, allegations of sexual harassment, allegations of discrimination, and conflict resolution. The Manager provides guidance on issues of employment law including Family Medical Leave Act, American with Disabilities Act, Wage and Hour Laws, and state-specific laws. The Manager - Advice and Counsel works in the Atlanta Store Support Center and reports to the Senior Manager - Advice and Counsel.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES* Providing excellent customer service and expert counseling to Home Depot managers and associates* Managing cases from receipt through resolution, including any field investigation activities* Partnering with resources from other areas including field HR, Legal, Loss Prevention, Associate Relations to effectively resolve issues* Ensuring associate and manager calls are properly handled for investigation, resolution is consistent with company policy, and cases are closed in a timely manner

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS* Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. EDUCATION REQUIREDThe knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTSFrequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field* 5 years in Associate Relations, Human Resources, HR Call Center, or Home Depot equivalent, with at least 50% or more focus on investigation and case management.* Experience within a centralized HR service delivery model* Home Depot experience
